It's come to our attention that a light on the corner of Burgundy & Marigny has been out for a couple of weeks. The outage was reported to the city on 2/19 and will supposedly take 4-6 weeks to fix. The case number is 101000364482 in case anyone wants to ask about progress, and I will be following up as well.
This website provides updates on the 71-room hotel and event space we are creating in the former Sts Peter and Paul church and school campus at 2317 Burgundy St. Feel free to reach out to co-owner Nathalie Jordi for more information at stpeterandpaulfeedback@gmail.com.

Site Purchased!
Last week we successfully purchased the site from its previous owners! As previously stated, we anticipate it will take 6 - 9 months to finalize designs and obtain the required city permits, then 1 - 1.5 years of renovation work before we open doors.
As always with rehabilitation projects, particularly those of a historic nature like this one, timelines are a moving target, but we will post updates to this blog with any notable changes.
Danni Productions will be filming in the nun's quarters for one day on Tuesday 2/10. They will be staging on Elysian Fields and blocking off street parking right in front of the church and on the side at Mandeville St. If you have any queries or complaints, contact location manager Evan Eastham at (561) 703-0243.

Zoning Approved!
The City Council voted unanimously yesterday to approve our zoning change and conditional use! This was the last official hurdle, so we are really excited to start the official process of renovating this site.
So, what happens next? It will take 1-2 months to close on the property, and then another approximately 6-9 months to finalize the plans, close the construction loan, and pull permits. We then expect 1 - 1.5 years of renovations before we are able to open our doors. We remain committed to being as sensitive as possible in the renovation and are always available for conversation about how to make that happen.

Now we are off to enjoy the weekend!

City Council Vote
The City Council vote on our zoning approval request, docket 104/14, will be heard at 11 am November 20, in the City Council's chambers at City Hall. Our case is #22 on the agenda, and you can follow along on the livestream here. Apologies for the late notice, but we only got final confirmation on the agenda today.
We will be posting an update after the meeting with the final result. Stay tuned!

In the spirit of keeping neighbors and stakeholders apprised of the zoning change process, below is a quick update regarding progress and upcoming milestones:
- The City Planning Commission will conduct a hearing on the proposed zoning change at City Hall on Tuesday, October 28th at 1:30 PM in the City Council Chambers (Room 1E07). Neighbors within 600 feet will be notified by a mailer sent by the city. The City Planning staff will make a recommendation to the City Planning Commission, who will make a non-binding vote on the project. Following that vote, the process will move to the City Council.
- Because the proposed zoning change involves a property with over 10,000 square feet of floor area (all of which is existing,) any permitted use in the HMC-2 district must also receive a conditional use permit. The conditional use permit dictates the precise use and characteristics of the proposed use, meaning that in order to change the proposed hotel use to other permitted uses within the HMC-2 district, add rooms or change any significant features, the project would need to receive a new conditional use permit (and therefore go through a new public review process.) We hope this fact allays any concerns regarding the use or configuration of the final product differing from what has been set out and discussed during the neighborhood participation process. The conditional use permit means that what is proposed is the only use that will be approved for the site.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any feedback, concerns, support or questions. We continue to look forward to restoring these wonderful historic buildings and creating a much loved asset for the neighborhood.
